"Artists of Eastern Oregon 2010"
ArtsEast Gallery would like to extend an invitation to eastern Oregon artists to participate in our "Artists of Eastern Oregon 2010" juried art exhibition to be held at Nightingale Gallery located on the Eastern Oregon University campus in La Grande. The exhibition is scheduled for August 6 (Fri.) through September 11 (Sat.), 2010. Any and all themes of expression define the parameters of acceptable entries. Previous honored artists of "Artists of Eastern Oregon" are eligible to enter, but will not receive honors two years in a row. Cash awards will be given.Artists may submit images of three (3) separate works. The entries must be digital images (72dpi) .jpg files. There is a non-refundable entry fee of $15 per artist for up to 3 entries. If you are a member of ArtsEast, the entry fee is waived.Submissions must be postmarked no later than May 28, 2010. Cove Camp Dutch Oven Cook-off!
We are paying tribute to the Veteran's! This competition is for everyone, experience is not required. So if you have never cooked with a Dutch Oven before, have done some camp cooking or are a seasoned Dutch Oven cook, all are welcome. Remember, this is primarily a fun event. So if you are even just a little interested and think this may be fun, sign up and we'll see you at the cook-off! Competitors will be asked to cook a main dish, a dessert, and a bread. If you wish to cook only 1 or 2 items you will not be eligible for the main judging, but will be eligible for the People's Choice Award. Announcement of the winners will be at 5:30 p.m. First place will be awarded $150.00, second place $100.00 and third place $50.00 There will be a Cook-off tasting & voting, live music, BBQ, miniature golf, wood fish derby, butter churning, homemade ice cream and a kids pie eating contest. Learn the basics of Dutch Oven cooking, bring your own oven and bake up a batch of biscuits! Your donation is appreciated and proceeds support Cove Camp. Music begins at 1:30p.m., Cook-off begins at 3p.m. and there will be food from 1:30 to 5p.m. Bring a lawn chair!!

The Union County Art and Culture Center announces an Open Call to Artists for their 5th annual Gala Art Show, September 18.
The Union County Art and Culture Center announces an open call to artists for their 5th annual Gala art show, September 18. Cash prizes of $250 will be awarded to winners of Best in Show 2-D, Best in Show 3-D, People's Choice, and Best Donated Art. Submissions will be judged by Susan Murrell, new EOU art faculty member. Artists may submit up to 3 display-ready pieces of original 2-D and 3-D art and jewelry. Artists are invited to donate one piece for the auction to benefit the renovation the Carnegie Library Building. A $35.00 submission fee is required (includes one free ticket to the Gala event). All art must be received at the Union County Art and Culture Center from September 9 - 11th, from 12 - 4:00 pm. This is an open exhibition, but UCACC board members are responsible for all final design, aesthetics, and functional decisions regarding the installation. All work must be for sale. The UCACC will retain a standard 40% commission on any work that is sold, and the artist will receive 60%. Please price work accordingly. Art work will be on display through November 18, at the Union County Art and Culture Center 1006 Penn Ave. All art must be prepared for professional display. All works must be delivered ready to install with no protruding nails or hooks. Artist should securely fasten hanging hardware (eye/screws/D-rings and picture hanging wire) to 2-D works. Works on canvas that are mounted on wooden stretchers must have hanging hardware attached. Jewelry must be labeled with artist name, and labeled as such, if part of a set. UCACC will not be held liable for damage to artwork due to ineffective use of hardware. Veteran's Day Parade
The parade entrants will meet up at Hemlock Street and Adams Avenue, and the parade will proceed west on Adams ending at 4th Street and Washington Avenue. Immediately following the end of the parade will be a Spaghetti Feed at the American Legion Hall located at 301 Fir at the corner of Jefferson. The spaghetti feed is free to American Legion members and $3.50 for the public.

Oregon Ink Spot International Print Exchange.
Nightingale Gallery at EOU, Loso Hall Exhibition Schedule. The exhibit will be highlighting works from the Oregon Ink Spot print exchange. The Exhibition is opening an Ink Spot fundraiser print sale that opens just in time for Christmas gift buying! In 2007 the inaugural Ink Spot exchange drew participants and in 2008 participation grew to 333 artists, representing 20 different countries. All 378 culturally rich and diverse prints will be on display and for sale at an affordable twenty-five dollars per print! This exhibition is free and open to the public. Parking on campus after 5 p.m. is also free. Individual prints from the exchange will be sold and the proceeds donated to the Kathelene Galloway Memorial Scholarship at EOU.
